The A XV travelled to Brixham for the first time in a few years to play against Brixham's third team with only 12 players. However this was a positive as mid week it looked as if there was only going to be 8 players which meant they could not fulfil the fixture and would be docked 5 points. But thanks to Will Haddy and Dale Jeffries being persuaded to play, and James Lake and Joe Hannon rushing straight to the game after disembarking from their ship in Plymouth, the fixture went ahead. Kings were leant a player so that it was thirteen aside. Brixham have only just started up their third team again and is made up of veterans mainly and others who had only just started playing the game, and this showed, as within the first couple of minutes Kings had crossed the line when Jamie Potts touched down after some good passing found him out on the wing. Tries came fairly regularly after that with Dave Evans, Joe Hannon and Will Haddy touching down, Alex Cavenali converting two of the tries, Dave Evans second try was the last one of the first half and Kingsbridge turned around 0 - 29 up and had the try bonus point wrapped up already.
Brixham were the first to score in the second half when a missed kick for touch from Kingsbridge saw their fullback take the ball into Kings twenty two and following a couple of quick phases they managed to score. This was their only score and after that Haddy crossed the line twice for his hatrick, Canevali converting one of them. The next try came from John Tucker when he backed up the loaned player from Brixham who had broken away only to be tackled five metres from the line and John picked up the ball unopposed and went over. Man of the match Dave Evans got his third try of the match with one of his darting scrum half runs. The last try was Potts second of the game and brought the full time score to 5 - 56.
Another good result for the A XV considering they could only get 12 players on the pitch. Hopefully they can raise at least 15 players for their first home game of the season on Saturday when they welcome their old rivals Salcombe.
